Today is June 30. That means the 2017 baseball season is halfway over. And it also means I have written 90 posts since April 2 on this website. I've somewhat surprised myself by not missing a day so far. Here's hoping I can go another 90...
Boxing is back! Well, kind of. Earlier this month, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather finally set their fight date for August 26. McGregor, a UFC star, will probably get destroyed, but the hype around it will be crazy. Tomorrow night, Manny Pacquiao will fight Australian Jeff Horn in Brisbane on ESPN. I'm not a boxing fan; I don't think I've ever watched a live event. But Muhammad Ali videos are cool.
Another dominant boxer, Mike Tyson, turns 51 today. Are you familiar with the other Mike Tyson? He played shortstop for the Cardinal and Cubs in the 1970s, accumulating 714 hits and 27 home runs in his 10 big league seasons.
The similarities between the two might stop with the name. Would you take Tyson's face tattoo or the other Tyson's fu manchu? I'll take the facial hair.
Is Mike Tyson the most famous person to have a baseball player with the same name? Check back for a post on that next week.
Baseball is here! And more importantly, that means the over/under game is back. It seems as though everyone is an expert this time of year. Somehow we convince ourselves that we are better at predicting baseball outcomes than everyone else. Well, AFITB is putting that to the test for the third year in a row. Think you know more about baseball than us? You probably do. But go ahead and prove it anyway.
