Have you listened to episode 100 of our podcast yet? If not, you should; we listed off our 100 favorite things about baseball. We did our best to mix in some other audio to make it listenable. And if you're not a podcaster, I'll be compiling those 100 things into blog posts later this week on Thursday and Friday.
As I was scrolling through Netflix earlier tonight, I came across Heavyweights. Netflix took down MacGyver, a show I was in the middle of binging, so I gave the 90s classic a shot. Of course, I've already seen it a handful of times. But, I had forgotten how funny it is. So after you read this post, do yourself a favor and watch Heavyweights. It's great.
If you recall, about 30 minutes into the film, there is a baseball scene. Well, technically it's softball but we'll count it. It's the annual game between Camp Hope—now run by Tony Perkis—and Camp MVP. The scene starts off with this great exchange.
"Nicholas, you know what to do."
"So it's kind of like cricket?"
"It's not kind of like cricket. It is cricket, just with a different name."
You can watch the rest of the scene below. We never see or hear the final score, but it was 61-0 in the top of the 6th.
I'll end by giving my top five 90s outfits from the movie.
Baseball is here! And more importantly, that means the over/under game is back. It seems as though everyone is an expert this time of year. Somehow we convince ourselves that we are better at predicting baseball outcomes than everyone else. Well, AFITB is putting that to the test for the third year in a row. Think you know more about baseball than us? You probably do. But go ahead and prove it anyway.
