Two months is probably too soon to evaluate an offseason move, but the Wade Davis-Jorge Soler swap looks like a steal for the Cubs. Davis has been dominant, giving up only one run in 17 innings. Soler has been terrible, hitting .170 with only 5 XBH in 54 plate appearances. Simply put, Davis has been the best closer in baseball while Soler has been close to the worst outfielder.

Did you know it's the curveball's 150th birthday? Neither did I. Fortunately Tom Verducci is all over it, writing a fantastic piece for SI about the curveball's history and increasing importance.

A few weeks ago a fan was hit by a stray bullet at a Cardinals game. Yesterday, a drone flew into a fan in the upper deck at a Padres game. We live in a bizarre world.
